HCA Volunteers

Last Thursday, Brenda and Tina set-up a booth at HCA's Agency Fair. The purpose was to allow HCA employees to learn about BrightStone and give them a chance to sign up to work on projects at BrightStone during 1 of 2 HCA Caring for the Community Days. Brian Shelby, our special friend and volunteer from HCA, came to help and attracted many people to our booth. And, our project filled up with volunteers in less than an hour following the fair. We look forward to having our HCA friends with us at BrightStone on September 23rd.

BrightStone recently welcomed a new adult student to our program. Welcome, Jennifer! As you can see, she's already busy painting pots to sell!

Volunteer Work Night

Once again, last Thursday night, our wonderful volunteers came out in force to help us with our ceramics! Much conversation and laughter was heard from the workrooms of BrightStone! I wonder if Ms. Mamie's promise of pizza helped bring everyone out? Volunteers, THANK YOU!

BrightStone Parents to "DRIVE" the Success of the 2008 Golf Benefit

This morning we had an awesome group of parents at our parent's meeting! We discussed the upcoming golf benefit, and how they can help "DRIVE" the success and help reach the $145,000 goal for 2008!

Birthdays are Special at BrightStone!

Earlier this week, we celebrated Jenny's birthday, with cake, ice cream and pizza! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNY!

We'll Miss Ms. Leslie

Today we said a fond (temporary, we hope!) farewell to Ms. Leslie, as she will be returning to David Lipscomb for her fall semester. Students and staff wished her well with a little celebration!

Dr. M. Craig Ferrell Finalist in CNM's 2008 Salute to Excellence Awards

The Center for Nonprofit Management has announced that Dr. M. Craig Ferrell is a finalist for the KraftCPAs Board Member of the Year Award.

Nominated by BrightStone, Dr. Ferrell is one of three finalists for this award. The winner will be announced at the 2008 Salute to Excellence on Wednesday, October 29th.

Dr. Ferrell (in addition to being Jon's dad) serves as BrightStone's Board Chairman, and chairs BrightStone's annual Songwriters Night. Other involvement includes hosting sporting clay benefit shoots, assisting with the search for land, and bringing new friends and supporters to BrightStone.

Good luck Dr. Ferrell! You're already a winner in our eyes!

In the News, Not Once, Not Twice, But Three Times!

BrightStone has had media mentions three times in the past week!

Today, a photo from our recent ribbon cutting ceremony for our new bus is in the Chamber's Monthly Perspective insert in the newspaper.

Today, in the Williamson Herald, in an article regarding Dr. Craig Ferrell's trip to the Beijing Olympics as a team physician, BrightStone is referenced pertaining to Dr. Ferrell's involvement with us.

And in the August edition of VIP Williamson County, a photo was included of BrightStone students and staff attending BancorpSouth's ice cream social!
