Honorarium Gift
As we've celebrated Memorial Day these past few days with family and friends, I was reminded of a wonderful and thoughtful gift that BrightStone received a few months ago. Have you noticed the flag pole in front of BrightStone? The cost for the flag and flag pole was underwritten by Helen Cook, in honor of her husband, Bob, for his service during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. What a tribute!

Guests thoroughly enjoyed "An Evening in the Garden"
Approximately sixty guests enjoyed gracious hospitality and wonderful music at the home of Linda Brooks last evening. Catered by Sargent's Fine Catering and entertainment provided by Ruth McGinnis and friends, the evening provided an introduction of Brightstone's vision and mission to many new friends. Several students and family members were present, as Judy Fincannon led a chorus group in a short performance for the guests. A beautiful ceramic cross made by BrightStone students in the ceramics workshop was presented as a heartfelt gift of thanks to Linda Brooks. It was truly an evening to remember!
New Student at Brightstone!
Fridays at BrightStone often involve community outings and social activities. Today BrightStone welcomed a new adult to our family of students! Cathy Hudnall joined us today. We know that she loves country music....she even brought her Keith Urban CD to share! When I caught up with her, she was thoroughly enjoying a game of Sorry with other students, working with colors and counting. Welcome Cathy!

Leon's Retirement Party
The students helped Leon, one of our bus drivers, celebrate his retirement today. Complete with cake and ice cream, gift, and a special song "Happy Retirement to You", the celebration was lots of fun. Leon's jokes and teasing will definitely be missed by all! (But we're hoping that we may see him back as an occasional substitute!)
BrightStone Students Shine Brightly at Special Olympics Spring Games!
BrightStone students, staff and parents had a great day on April 30 at the Williamson County Special Olympics Spring Games, held at Brentwood High School. We led the opening parade and then our own Michael Spaulding and Jessica Bray assisted with the Torch Run, with Jessica actually lighting the flame. Our Bocce teams especially did well, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their adult division!
